Half Way to her First Birthday!

Can you believe that Jordyn is six months old? It has gone by WAY too fast. This past month Jordyn has learned and grown a lot. She is getting the cutest little personality and she is so fun to play with. Her are her stats for six months:
Weight: 16 lbs
Height: 25 1/4 inches
Here are some of her new tricks:
She can roll over both ways and she does it FAST
When she is on her tummy she can scoot forward and backward
She knows what she wants and wiggles until she gets it
She is very curious and loves to touch things
Jordyn can give kisses
She has her first two bottom teeth
Sleeping through the night
We have decided that she LOVES technology! She loves to play with cell phones, remotes, computers, etc.
She whines if you take away something that she wants
We can't believe how big she is getting! We love her so much and have a lot of fun with her. She is such a fun-loving easy going baby. We are so lucky to have her in our family.

I am Officially a Seamstress!!

Here is my first sewing project that I did all by myself. It took a lot longer than it probably should have and I used the seam ripper more than the sewing machine. But I am actually quite pleased with the results! I will take pictures of Jordyn wearing her dress on Sunday.

Trip to Utah

I was looking at our blog and realized that I didn't even post about going to Utah! The last week of March, Jordyn and I were able to fly home to Utah to spend time with my family. It was so good to be home! We did so many fun things. We went to Sky's choir concert, to the movie Knowing (which totally creaped me and Sky out so I slept in her bed the rest of the vacation!), we went to Gardner Village and found the cutest fabric to make bags with! Me and Sky helped a little but my mom ended up doing most of the work! It was so nice just to hang out with my family. Me and the twins stayed up late every night dancing in the rain, playing Phase 10, getting in the hot tub, and goofing around!
Here we are at Gardner Village on the only semi-warm day that we were there! I will admit that I don't miss that Utah winter weather.
Grandma was showing Jordyn the duckies.

Our little flower! Aunt Amy gave these to Jordyn for Easter. Thanks Amy!
One day Jordyn was playing on the floor in the dining room. I looked over and she had rolled up against the chair. Then she pulled herself up and started to suck on the chair leg. You can't tell very good from the picture but she is sitting in a V-sit!

Me and my little brother Jaxon! Although he is not so little anymore, he is now the tallest person in our family.

Jordyn and Aunt Sky

While we were up there Jordyn and I got together with Cory's family and went out to dinner. It was good to see them!

Oh yeah, and Cory got so lonely while we were gone that his little brother Jeffrey drove down to spend the weekend with him! Thanks for coming to the rescue Jeffrey!

We love both of our families and miss them very often! Thanks mom and dad for letting us come home!

One last thing, while I was home my good friend Kimber had her baby girl! I was so excited that I got to see her and hold baby Gracie. Congrats!

Hoppy Easter

We had a GREAT Easter holiday and we were so lucky that the Easter made it to our house! He brought daddy a book that he has wanted for a long time and he brought Jordyn bubbles, linking rings, and three rubber duckies for the bath tub! Oh yeah, and she got her very first Easter dress! Jordyn was also very spoiled by both sets of her grandparents.

We were also able to go to church and feel the spirit while remembering the birth and resurrection of our Savior! We are so grateful for his atoning sacrifice. That we can be here with our families and be together forever!

Here is Jordyn on her first Easter, she is very excited!

She fit perfectly in her little basket!

Daddy got his new book!

Daddy is showing Jordyn how the bubbles work, she is not quite sure about them.

Here she is in her first Easter dress! Isn't she the cutest thing you have ever seen? I just want to squeeze her!!

A Pleasant Surpise

Jordyn has never been a great sleeper but as her mom I take full blame! I did many of the things that you are not "supposed" to do. It wasn't that I was not informed because I had read all about sleep in several books. But when Jordyn finally came I quickly was doing everything opposite of what the "professionals" said. I let her sleep in bed with us, I rocked her until she finally fell asleep, I didn't put her down drowsy but still awake, and every time she woke up in the night I fed her just so she would go back to sleep quickly.
Well I have been trying to break her of the many habits that I have trained her to do. She sleeps in her crib, she goes to bed awake, etc. but I still have been feeding her every time she wakes in the night. The past week the nights have been HARD... to say the least. We have prayed, I have read more books, I have googled info... you get the picture! So on Sunday night we went to bed and Jordyn woke up FIVE times that night. Yesterday I was at the end of my rope, I was tired and really knew what I needed to do to break her habit but wasn't really ready to do it. But by the end of the day I didn't care how hard it was going to be I was not getting up FIVE times anymore.
So I decided that this would be my plan... If she woke up and started to cry I was going to let her cry for ten minutes, go in and calm her down and walk out. I would repeat this process until she would fall asleep. I KNEW it was going to be a long night but I told myself that I would do this "program" for a week and if nothing changed then we would try something else.
I put her in bed at 7:00 like I always do. She usually has NO problem going to bed at night. But she cried and cried and I calmed and comforted and she fell asleep around 7:40. I thought to myself, "WOW it is going to be a long night!" She slept fine until about 10:45 (ten minutes after I had got in bed) I looked at the clock and told myself, "give her ten minutes" those ten minutes went by and she was back to sleep!
As the night went by she kept sleeping and sleeping and sleeping. At 4:45 AM I was worried because she has never slept longer than four hours at night. I went in saw that she was breathing and left. We woke up at 7:30 AM.
And to our pleasant surprise Jordyn shocked us both and slept 12 straight hours!!
Thank you Jordyn.

Happy Birthday

My birthday was on the 11th and I turned 24! We had a great day spending time with each other. We woke up in the morning and went to our favorite sandwich shop in Albuquerque and got a breakfast sandwich. Then we came home and opened presents. I got spoiled by both of our families and by Cory. He got me tennis balls, a tennis racket, and a tennis bag so we can learn to play tennis this summer. We are way excited!

Then we colored Easter eggs! Jordyn wanted to help so we tried to distract her by giving her the box. Well she sucked the cardboard till it was all soggy and gross... way to go mom and dad!

Daddy and Jordyn getting ready to color the eggs.

The finished product!

We went to the mall and shopped around for awhile and then headed to this movie...

Then we ate at my favorite restaurant...

Mommy and Jordyn at the restaurant!

The whole time we were eating dinner Jordyn played with a water bottle. It is her new favorite toy and can keep her entertained for a good half hour!

On the way home Cory stopped and got me the best and biggest slice of carrot cake! It was to die for.

We put Jordyn down for the night and cuddled on the couch watching our favorite show....

It was a great birthday! I can't believe that I am getting so old. I still feel like I am a teenager at times but I am a wife and a mother! I love it!!!

Jordyn Bug and Little Miss Ava

Jordyn and Ava had so much fun playing with each other. They would lay on a blanket and reach out and touch each other. They still aren't quite sure what to think about each other and we are definitely going to have to teach them what it means to share and be soft!

They are holding hands!!

Five Months

Jordyn is five months old! She is getting very big and very curious! I am think I am going to have my hands full once she starts to be mobile.

Here are some new things she has learned:
  • She found her right foot and likes to suck on her big toe!
  • She has great hand-eye coordination and reaches for anything in sight.
  • She can sit up for about three seconds and then she folds in half.
  • She still loves the bath and splashes a ton!
  • She has ticklish feet and laughs when we chew on them.
  • She talks a lot!
  • She now eats rice cereal and has just added sweet potatoes to her diet!
  • We think she knows her name because she turns her head when she hears it.
  • Reading books to her is very difficult because all she wants to do is rip out the pages.

We love having her in our family. She always brings a smile to our faces and reminds us what life is really about.

Viva Las Vegas!!

Cory had spring break in the middle of March and we wanted to do something fun. One night while I was talking to my best friend Mckell on the phone I asked her what they were doing and she said nothing. Jokingly I said we will meet you in the middle and go to Las Vegas and she said ok! We spent five days soaking in the sun with Trevor and Mckell. It was so much fun! They are such good friends and we did so many fun things. We were pretty much busy all day and didn't lay around much! There are tons of pictures but a couldn't just choose a few; here is what we did!

We went to the Mountain West basketball tournament and cheered on the Utes! They ended up winning the whole conference!
The boys watched the game, while Mckell and I talked!

The next day the boys went to another basketball game while Mckell and I shopped at Cesar's Palace. Then we met up and ate at the Cheesecake Factory! Here is Jordyn with her friends.

I was quite fascinated with the twisting escalators at Cesar's Palace so I had Cory go up them with me and Mckell took pictures!

We then went and watched the water show at the Belagio! It was very entertaining.

We took Jordyn swimming for the first time! And Mckell and I got some much needed sun.

We caught Jordyn being cute!

We ate at one of our favorite restaurants, P.F. Changs; it is kind of a tradition to eat there with Trev and Mckell.

We went the Bass Pro Shop and saw the fish swimming!

We went to the outlets and Trevor and Cory tried on a pair of shoes that were size 21!!! Who has that big of feet?!?!
We went to the Hoover Dam to see the new bridge they are building!
Jordyn can now say that she has been in two places at once; here she is on the Nevada/Arizona border!

We must have run Jordyn to the ground because we looked in her stroller and she was asleep with her rattle on her face! Now that is what I called tired!!

We had a great time with the Richins and can't wait to live by you so we can hang out all the time!
