Santa Claus is Coming to Town

We took Jordyn to the mall so she could sit on Santa's lap and tell him EVERYTHING a six week old wants for their first Christmas. She was very content in his lap and looked right at the camera! We are so excited to go home on Wednesday and be able to spend this holiday with our families.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Thursday Night Football

Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints

The cutest Bears fan you have ever seen

Our family sporting our Bears gear
Cory holding Jordyn like a football and doing the "Heisman Pose"

Jordyn and Daddy are ready for the big game
GO BEARS!!

Oh no, it looks like Jordyn feels the same as mom;
Games are boring and the Bears stink!

She Did It!

This morning, after feeding Jordyn, reading a story, and swinging, I noticed Jordyn was getting sleepy. So I decided I would give the crib a try; thinking that I would be going in and out of the room trying several times to get her to sleep. Much to my suprise, I put her in her crib at 10:42 she whined for three or four minutes and here it is 11:16 and she is asleep in her crib! Good job Jordyn!
**Not even five minutes after posting this she woke up! I totally jinxed myself!**

Late Night Feedings

Jordyn is growing so fast. She is eating and sleeping well. I usually feed her around 8:30 PM and she wakes up at 2:30 AM and 6:30 AM and then we are up for the day around 8:30 AM. Jordyn definitely has a hard time waking herself up. She never cries but grunts and squirms instead. I have to pick her up and change her diaper to get her fully awake.

Some nights when she wakes up I am fine to wake up and don't feel very tired; but there are other times that I feel so exhausted and can't believe we are up again... sometimes it feels like we just laid down. Last night was one of those nights!

I woke up and started feeding her and kept feeling my head bob as I dozed off. I decided it was time to really wake up and pay attention to what I was doing.

I just watched her and was overwhelmed with how precious she is and the joy she brings to my life. As I was watching her she smiled up at me and my heart melted. I am grateful for our late night feedings together where we can share these moments.

A New Christmas Tradition

Today we woke up to snow! It wasn't enough to stick to the ground but just enough to get you in the Christmas spirit. Growing up my family had tons of traditions that I want to carry on; but I would also like to make some of our own. So tonight, while Cory was at school, Jordyn and I started a new tradition.
Each December I am going to buy a new Christmas Children's Book to add to my collection and our family can spend the whole month reading Christmas stories. I went through one of my bins (I have six) of books from teaching and found that we have a pretty good collection already!
Jordyn and I got ready to make cookies
and enjoy a story by the tree.

I showed Jordyn how to lick the cookie dough off the mixers...
Look at her eyeing them!
We put them in the oven and ten minutes later we had...
COOKIES!!
So what if they are too close together, they still taste good!
Then we snuggled up by the tree,
turned on the Christmas lights,
and enjoyed One Winters Day.

I love Christmastime and I love my new little family

that I can start and carry on traditions with.

I'm A BIG Kid Now...

From the minute Jordyn was born we knew she was advanced. At about one week we noticed that she could roll over to her tummy, however she can't get herself back over which leads to crying. If you stand her up tall she will put her weight on her legs and push up. She has already started to "coo" and smile. So like I said we knew she was ahead of the rest of the infants out there.

Little did we know she was this advanced...

"Look everybody, I can DRIVE!!!"

(Don't worry Grandma and Grandpa we are parked in a parking lot :)
