How to Treat a Hangnail

" If you have a hangnail, and it has a little blood you put a bandaid on it. Then you eat some soup and but the soup in front of the bandaid, put the bandaid back on, and then it died!"

Stockton James Judd

Here is Stockton's Birth Story:

When I was 36 weeks pregnant my midwife told me that I could choose to be induced at 39 weeks if I wanted to. At the time I opted out and decided I would let him come on his own time. Well that idea didn't last long and at my 39 week appointment I wanted to schedule my induction. I went to my appointment (with a different midwife) and she told me that she would not induce me until I was 41 weeks!! Needless to say I cried in the room for about 5 minutes before going home and crying to Cory.

Monday May 9th I went into my 41 week appointment at 9:00 AM. The midwife checked me and I was still at 1 cm (what I had been at since week 36). So she asked me what I wanted to do. I said I want to get induced ASAP! She said she would go call that hospital and see when they could get me in. Not even two minutes later she came back and said "do you have your bags? They are ready!"

So we ran home and got our bags and got Jordyn situated. She was bawling when we were leaving which made it SO hard to leave. But we knew she was in good hands with all of our family.

We checked in the hospital at 10:00 AM.

By 11:00 AM they had broke my water and started the pitocin.
Side note: My water broke on its own with Jordyn and that is the way to do it! It is so much more exciting and does not hurt NEAR as bad:)

By 1:00 PM they brought in the goods: the beloved epidural. I was at 4 cm.

By 4:56 PM I was at 6 cm, and we were convinced that he would be here around 11:00 PM.

By 5:10 PM my sweet nurse came in and said that she thought he was making his move so she was going to check me. I was at 8 cm.

By 5:20 PM I was at a 10 and ready to push!!! Everyone came in I did 2 practice pushes and then 3 REAL pushes and. . .

At 5:43 Stockton James Judd was born weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 20.5 inches long. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes. He looks a lot like Jordyn when she was born.

He has changed our lives forever! We love you buddy.

Pics to come once I download them:)

Some of My Favorite Things About Jordyn

  • How she picks up a camera and says "cheese"
  • Every morning when she comes out of her room she shouts "mama" (with a British accent) over and over again
  • Her love for books, all day she is coming up to me with a book waiting for me to read it to her. "Albuquerque Turkey" is her favorite.
  • How much she loves her Aunt Sky, it really is so cute to watch the two of them
  • She has NO fear, she will do anything.... keeps me busy
  • How she loves to dance naked on the bar to "I Gotta a Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas
  • How her favorite character on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is Pete, the annoying bad guy! She gets so excited when he comes on the screen.
  • Watching her learn, she is one smart cookie! She is talking so well and knows some of her colors.
  • How she will look at a picture and point to my mom and say, "Grandma!"
  • Watching her do her puzzles, she concentrates so hard and is determined to do them. And she can all by herself!
  • How she can eat three bowls of cold cereal in the morning.
  • When she is waiting for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to come on she lets out a big gasp and opens her eyes really big.

I love this little lady and can't get enough of her. She is the sunshine in my day!

Our Judd Family Miracle

While we have been living in New Mexico, Cory has been doing an internship for the University of New Mexico in their Compliance department. Sometime around May, Cory's boss approached Cory and told him that come December they wanted to hire Cory. We were relieved to know that Cory would have a job upon graduation. So we were kind of preparing ourselves for living in New Mexico for a little while longer.

At the beginning of October, Cory's boss came to him and told them that because of budget cuts they wouldn't have the money to hire him on. Cory and I were worried sick! The economy is so bad right now and we didn't know what we were going to do. Cory looked at jobs in his field on a daily basis and there were only 9 positions in the WHOLE country, majority of them being back east. So he started applying. One night we were laying in bed and we were both so worried about what we were going to do. We were thinking of our options "We could move back to Utah and I could teach until you find something", "We could move to Vernal and Cory could work in the oil field until we found something". Needless to say we didn't sleep well that night.

The next day Cory got an email, saying that a position had opened up at Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. That is the first job in Utah that Cory had ever seen come up in his emails. Cory applied right away. I was praying that he would get it cause my mom had been so sick I knew I needed to get home and help my family. We really weren't expecting to hear anything from them, but the next day I was in the kitchen and heard a phone vibrating. I looked around and it was Cory's, I didn't know he had left it home that day. It was a Utah number so I answered it.

"Hi this is Megan from Utah Valley University. I am looking for a Cory Judd."

"He isn't here right now, this is his wife, can I take a message."

"Yeah we are wanting to do a phone interview with Cory for a position he applied for."

Jumping up and down "Does tomorrow at noon work?"

"Yeah that would be great!"

"Ok, thanks!"

I was astonished that he got a phone call. I was smiling from ear to ear! Seeing that Cory's phone was at home I wasn't able to call him and tell him so I had to wait 4 long hours to share the news!

The next day he had his interview at 12:00. Cory was on the line with 5 other people asking him questions. He felt like it went well and asked them if there was a time frame that he could expect to hear anything. They said "probably not for a week, we have a lot of people to interview." So with that Cory got off the phone.

At 2:00, Cory got a phone call from UVU saying they wanted to fly him up next weekend for an interview. Within 20 minutes Cory was on the phone with UVU's travel agent and he had his flight booked.

I was leaving for Utah in two days to go help my mom, so I would be up there when he interviewed.

He came up and we took him to his interview, hoping for the best but trying our hardest not to get our hopes up. When I went to get him from the interview he was holding a paper in his hand and had a smirk on his face. He got in the car and started to tell me every little detail of the interview. I asked what the paper was and he said wait until my story is done. Well Cory is quite the story teller so I waited and waited.

They had offered him the job on the spot and asked him to sign the contract! I was amazed! I cried. I could not believe!

I have never felt the Lord guide my life so strongly as I did in that instance. Not only did we want to be in Utah, we NEEDED to be in Utah for my family. I am so grateful that Lord watched over us and gave us our own Judd Family Miracle.

Cory's 29th Birthday

Cory turned 29! We had a great day together spending time as a family. We started the day off with caramel french toast... YUM! Then we headed to the zoo and rode the train. Later that night we had friends over for cake and ice cream. It was a good day and we are so grateful for Cory. He does a lot for our family and it doesn't go unnoticed.

Enjoying our breakfast!

Let's have some lunch!

Birthday Cake with the Grahams

Happy Birthday Babe!

First Piggy Tail

Jordyn had her first piggy tail! You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get a simple little piggy in her hair. The girl won't sit still for the life of her!! We have done it several times since and she whines the whole time I do it! I guess she doesn't understand that she has many more years of cute hair-dos ahead of her, whether she likes them or not!!! The whole event made me happy and sad all at the same time. I was happy cause she just looks so darn cute, but at the same time I was so sad because she looks like a little girl not a little baby anymore:(
